Why Join a User Group?

User groups offer many benefits -- regardless of your skill level and interest level.

The Internet provides many answers and resources. However, nothing beats the personal connection of meeting with local Mac users and exploring the resources that are available -- from resellers to technical support to community activities.
6. Make contacts.
You could be looking for professional contacts and networks. Meet people who run and manage area businesses, law practices, and medical centers, and discuss ways you can build relationships that are beneficial to all parties.

9. It's just plain fun.
There's something about being a part of a user group like Apple Corps that makes members come back time after time. They love it. They love the people they meet and the opportunities that user groups create. Being a user group member -- it's just plain fun.

What Do We Do?

Meetings vary depending on whether you attend the General Meeting or one of the satellite SIG meetings. Many meetings will feature presenters from the technology industry. Group members also often present -- either about technology or about an individual project such as a short movie. We include time for question and answer sessions as well as some social and networking activities. You can ask any question imaginable about your computer, easy or difficult, and get an immediate answer from a knowledgeable fellow user. Many meetings feature a raffle or other giveaways. As an Authorized Apple user group we often receive software and merchandise donations from industry vendors, and share these items with our members via monthly raffles or through special events.
What else do we do? On occasion Apple Corps produces special events -- training days, swap meets, gaming parties, computer shows, trivia contests, picnics, and more. Some SIG groups visit other locations, organizations, or events in the community such as libraries, book clubs, or fairs. Apple Corps also initiates technology-related community service projects. We donate used computers to local charities and provide ongoing support, refurbish older computers for use in schools that don't have the funds to buy new computers, and activly donate equipment to the elderly and help them get started on the internet.
